Food & Accommodation

There’s nothing better than that feeling of walking into a cosy inn at the end of a day in the countryside.

Blended with our belief that where you stay is an essential part of your trip; good bedrooms, authentic to the area you are exploiting, and good food on offer in a relaxing environment.

Each inn is individual and we seek each one to give you a consistent standard throughout your trip, many of our country inns are award winning hosts in their own right. From centuries old pubs, to coaching inns and Georgian town houses, they ooze history too.

Our Country Inns & Hotels

What do we look for as a host for our Foot Trails guests?

We like local, authentic, relaxed, special places to stay that are loved by the local community and visitors alike. Located in small English villages, a little off the beaten path, you can soak up village life as you explore, a true experience of being in rural England.

A mix of inns with restaurants and small hotels most of them have just a handful of bedrooms making them small and intimate. We look for good sized bedrooms with your creature comforts ensured, en-suite facilities, and with good fresh food to enjoy on site in the evenings.

“Excellent food and overnight accommodations at a variety of well-appointed pubs, along with the welcoming local people we met on our country walks made this trip memorable.”
TripAdvisor – Mark, October 2023

Your itinerary consultant will be able to tell you about each of the inns where you stay and the bedroom options as they help to create your custom itinerary.

Food & Drink

Great food & drink in relaxed settings for a satisfying evening after a day in the countryside, food is just that bit more delicious after a day on foot.

When we seek places for our guests to stay we look for places where you can enjoy creative menus of freshly prepared foods, and a similar commitment to be good at what they do. Many of our inns draw on the local area and farms for inspiration and food with provenance. Behind the bar, real English ales, ciders and an interesting wine list.

And not forgetting a freshly prepared breakfast each day to set you up. For lunches, on each of your trails we will give you advice on where you can get a fresh lunch or enjoy refreshments on route.

Vegetarian & vegan options are generally available, and dietary intolerances can be catered for. If you have any special requests simply let your itinerary consultant know.
