From across the Somerset levels this iconic monument draws you, Glastonbury Tor. A natural hill amongst the marshes the tower is all that remains of a 14th century chapel. But the hill has likely drawn people for millennia, a sacred place.

To walk here across the land, unhurried, glimpses of the tor as you journey ever closer is a remarkable experience, and just one of the days on our Myths & Legends walking holiday.

A few of our walking trails crisscross the Kennet & Avon canal with its colourful barges and relaxed pace. When the canal was built in the 18th century it would have been a very different scene as an army of barges carried goods between Bristol & London.

These three stones are known as the 'Whispering Knights' and I've always loved the way they look huddled together, backs turned, whispering. They formed part of a burial chamber built nearly 6000 years ago. One of the joys of walking the English landscape are the histories and legends you discover along the way.
