Taste of The Cotswolds

Taster Breaks – Short breaks in The Cotswolds

Over four days, take an enjoyable adventure into this stunning area of the Cotswolds. The ancient spiritual heart lies deep in the ‘wolds’, based near the market town of Cirencester, the second largest town in Britain during Roman times.

We have strong family connections to the area. My family farm here and David (my husband) grew up here too, so we know the Cotswolds inside out. We’ve created a spectacular and varied trail using this local knowledge. You will therefore be right in the heart of the ancient wool trade. Pretty stone cottages, grand medieval churches and rolling pastoral landscapes.

We love the Cotswolds and we can’t wait to help you walk here and enjoy it too.

Short Breaks in The Cotswolds

This taster short break is where you stay in one place – each day enjoy a different and varied walking trail and return to your host inn at the end of the day. This trail is great for a short relaxing break or those new to walking & hiking on multiple days.

Staying in One Place allows you to explore this area of the Cotswolds deeply and then unwind and relax back at your personally chosen country inn. Take in the 2nd century Roman villa and be amazed by some of England’s best examples of mosaic floors.

Explore the parish church in the market town of Cirencester, and its array of independent shops and walk through peaceful river valleys and wonderful Cotswolds stone villages. Taste of the Cotswolds may leave you wanting more!

3 and 4 night itineraries available.

The Cotswolds

Taste of The Cotswolds breaks take place in the heart of The Cotswolds, between Cirencester and Stow-on-the-Wold. The Cotswolds are an area of outstanding natural beauty in the West Country of South West of England.

Getting here is easy, the nearest stations are at either Kemble (for Cirencester) or Moreton-in-Marsh (for Stow). Travel is approximately 90 minutes by train from London Paddington or a 2 hour drive from London by car.

The suggested international airport is London Heathrow which offers an easy transfer to London Paddington. You could also arrive to Birmingham, Bristol or other London airports depending on your start point.

About your accommodations

When Alison created Foot Trails one of founding principles was our belief in good authentic accommodation. We work with country inns & pubs in local villages that all provide excellent accommodation and award winning food. We have consistent standards, not a small B&B one night, a hotel another and a pub another. Most of our country inns & pubs are award winning hosts for their accommodation and food.

We believe inns & pubs are the true experience of being in the countryside of England – 100’s of years old, part of their community and with a relaxed and comfortable feel. They are not hotels, but the bedrooms are just as good, if not better, the food is certainly better and the atmosphere local and genuine. Alison personally selects the inns, staying & eating at each one regularly to be certain they are places we wish our guests to stay.

We will give you all the details on where you are staying before you decide on your booking and make any deposit.
