What better way to spend a bright autumn day than walking the lanes and pathways of wondeful Wiltshire? Walking through lush fields of grass, over soft woodland floors, and past picture-perfect villages and cottages. It's as far away from the hustle and bustle of modern life as you can get.

Blue skies, fluffy white clouds, leaves turning from green to rusty red. A wonderful day's escape.

Even when the clouds are overcast and the rain is falling, walking in the countryside is still a beautiful experience.

Just arriving at the startpoint of this walk feels like entering a different, quieter world. Each step taking us deeper into the countryside, away from crowds, away from the everyday and into a more unique, authentic place.

Taking shelter from the rain in churches, walking through fields of sheep, passing ancient burial mounds dating back thousands of years, wondering just how much more history might be lying below our feet. And walking onto our finish point, where a traditional inn and hot drink are eagerly received.

The Somerset Levels have a unique feel and are full of mystique, legend, and cider. We love this little corner of Somerset here at Foot Trails.

Last week, David headed over to the Levels for a quick trail check. Following a little trail down tracks and paths to a village on a small hill, he timed his visit perfectly for the sun to break through the clouds and illuminated the landscape below. Wandering past pretty cottages, amongst sheep and orchards, it was a lovely way to welcome the evening.
