Apple Day is particularly cherished in Somerset, our home patch. The county is renowned for its heritage Apple varieties and centuries-old cider making tradition. We're blessed to have so many orchards and traditional cider farms on our doorstep.

The leaves on many trees are taking on their autumn mantle and slowly falling to earth. But there's still plenty of green to be seen out wandering in nature. Looking at the colour green and being outdoors are both meant to be effective ways of reducing stress, boosting creativity, and generally improving our moods.

I had to agree a few days ago while out walking. Coming across a group of trees and pausing a while under their still-green canopy, watching the light through the green leaves... it definitely lifted my spirits and put an extra spring in my step as I continued on my way ☺️ 🌿🌿

One of the joys of walking the countryside of South West England is coming across local produce outside private homes. Just last week in Somerset, we encountered free apples as well as honey, cider and plants for sale. You never know what you can find. So it's always worth taking some change with you on a walk!

Autumn showing itself from its best side this past weekend. We are so fortunate to live in such a wonderful part of the world. Public footpaths crisscrossing the south west, taking us out into fields, through gates, under trees and over water. Allowing us to follow our feet wherever they take us and to stop and listen to the silence, to the soft sound of leaves falling to the ground, the rustlings of birds and other foraging animals, the distant sounds of sheep and cows and the startled cries of pheasants as the burst out from the undergrowth.
