I’d planned a list of audiobooks to listen to on the trail and I didn’t put my headphones in once – there was too much to look at and think about and I just fell head over heels in love with the countryside. At one point we looked out over a valley and I said “look, we are the only two people for miles around.
It was very clear to us that the routes organized by Foot Trails were significantly more interesting (and significantly less busy) than the “national” trails, and a lot of local knowledge and love of the countryside must have gone into planning them.”
