30 May saw the release of The Salt Path here in the UK. The filming of Raynor Winn’s uplifting nature and travel memoir tracing her and her husband’s travels and travails along the South West Coast Path. Here at Foot Trails, we were eagerly anticipating its release. Not just because of the incredible story (the book is a wonderful read). We also couldn’t wait to see the scenery. The South West Coast Path is simply stunning, all 630 miles of it. And we knew the film would be showcasing and championing these wonderful landscapes.

We were particularly keen to see the rugged coast of north Somerset and Exmoor on the big screen, and the rolling landscape and cliff-top views of the Dorset coast. These two regions, marking the beginning and the end of the South West Coast Path (Salt Path), are also the location of two of our own walks: Wild Coast & Wild Moor and Landscapes & Seascapes of Dorset.

Wild Coast & Wild Moor is one of our newest trips, researched, walked and written and Foot Trails Co-Founder & Trip Creator David Howell. Our first guests have already walked this region (and loved it), and we can’t wait to share this dramatic, beautiful landscape with more guests this summer and autumn.

Our Landscapes & Seascapes of Dorset trip celebrates the joy of walking through the countryside of this wonderfully rural county, catching glimpses of the sea in the distance, before arriving at the beach and exploring all things coastal. Beautiful beaches, dramatic sea cliffs and views stretching off for miles in every direction – just some of the highlights of this breathtaking holiday.

The film didn’t disappoint. The two main characters (Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs) put in brilliant performances, and the landscape deserves an Oscar for best supporting actor too. If you’d like to explore these sections of the salt path with Foot Trails, visit our website or send us an email. We’d love to talk to you about your next walking adventure.
