A sunny day in Winter is always a joyful gift.
The day after the winter solstice the skies cleared, and whilst the gusty wind brought icy blasts, it was joyous to take a few hours to walk. Alison and I headed to Dorset to enjoy it’s stunning coastal scenery. Wrapped up, and with hats & gloves we set out, the westerly wind blew in dark clouds, the sleet and hail mixed with rain stung our cold faces. A tease of sun in the distance showed that it would pass.
We took the curving inland valley and gently climbed our way towards the coast. Cresting the rise, the coast was revealed before us, the wintry shower blew inland and winter’s low sun bathed us in light. We dropped down to the beach to enjoy the sounds of the crashing waves and to enjoy the arch so familiar to many. Time to seek out a warming hot chocolate.
