Trail extension in Somerset

Front entrance of Stoney LIttleton Long Barrow

Last weekend, Foot Trails Co-Founder and trail creator, David Howell, was out in the county of Somerset, checking and modifying one of our walks in the Bath & Avon Valley Foot Trail.

As part of his efforts here, David extended the existing route to take in an ancient long barrow from the early Neolithic period. Built between 3800 and 3400 BC, the tomb contained the remains of several individuals, possibly spanning multiple generations. Now open to the public, visitors can enter the tomb by crawling carefully along its 13-metre passage. A fascinating addition to the Bath & Avon Valley Foot Trail for our guests in 2025.
