Devon Creek to Coast

Unspoiled Coastal Scenery

New! Foot Trails’ newest trip. Devon Creek to Coast is an Inn to Inn style walking trip. You’ll explore the beautiful South Hams, an area of outstanding natural beauty in Devon, spending two nights at each location on route.

Guests often ask us about walking Inn to Inn on the coast and we have longed to offer an Inn to Inn coastal experience for some time. David and Alison Howell created this new trail, taking in the towns of Totnes, Dartmouth and Salcombe.

You won’t simply follow the coast path (sometimes monotonous & busy!), you’ll visit towns, villages and historic sites as well as enjoying some spectacular countryside from the early creeks, to the sea and along the coast.

Devon Coast, inn to inn / village to village

The South Hams is a landscape of rolling green hills dotted with villages and small towns. It includes some of the most unspoiled coastline on the South Coast which along with the Avon and Dart valleys form the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This Inn to Inn style walking trip can be 4 to 7 nights, and we heartily recommend 7 nights as there is so much to see. Request an example itinerary and mini brochure to your right for a complete overview including sample daily itinerary.

There is beauty around every corner on this trail which takes you from Totnes to Chillington via Dartmouth. You’ll enjoy ancient castles, a light house, seascapes and river views as well as the stunning Sharpham Estate which produces some very fine English wines and cheeses.

How do I find my way?

Trails are devised using our local knowledge and rigorously tested and checked. Find your way using either the easy to follow trail cards if you prefer not to map read, or the local Ordnance survey maps provided. Or a combination of both. For peace of mind an on call service is provided every day including weekends between 8am and 6pm.

Where will I be walking?

Your walks are on public rights of way and a mixture of paths, tracks and trails through woodland, on farm land, village country lanes and countryside. Most walking is away from roads. Everything you need will be provided in your walk and explore pack.
